Department of Public Health Dentistry

OVERVIEW

The department of Public Health Dentistry came in to existence since 2008, and at the post graduation level, with the intake 2 post graduate students every year, since 2020. The department of Public Health Dentistry has organized more than 100 camps in the Bhopal city in the last year and more than 5000 patients have been benefited by utilizing dental care services offered by the department. The department is operating Satellite Dental Clinics, which are committed to provide dental treatment to the rural population.

The department celebrates all the important days like World Health Day, Environment Day, Dental Hygiene day, Geriatric Day by conducting various programmes and made people aware about it. The department has adopted /collaborated many villages and schools, and providing dental health education and fulfilling treatment needs of villagers and school children. Post graduates and under graduates students do visit Primary Health Centre’s to understand the basic Health care delivery system. Other places which were frequently visited by our students, for the academic purposes, are Water treatment plant, Sewage treatment plant and Milk dairy.

The department is also conducting various outreach activities, where dental care is delivered to Old Age Homes, children with special needs and orphanages. The department has a Tobacco Cessation Centre and motivates people to quit tobacco related habits. Various research projects are being taken by the department.
