Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry

OVERVIEW

Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry at Bhabha College of Dental Sciences, Bhopal, is one of the most prominent branches which deals with the children from birth through adolescence. We focus on Pediatric/adolescent growth and development, prevention of dental diseases and child psychology. The vast clinical areas of interest include caries prevention, pediatric tooth restoration and endodontics, detecting and averting deleterious oral habit, interceptive and preventive orthodontics, myofunctional therapy, radiography, patients and parent’s dental health education and so on.

The department has dedicated and skilled staff successfully running undergraduate course for 10 years. Our department aims to achieve a high and ethical standard of practice, promotion of education, and research in Pediatric dentistry.

The department is well equipped with state of the art dental instruments and equipment. Special protocol is taken for sterilization and disinfection. Minimal radiation exposure to the patients is done using x-ray unit with radiovisiography. Various school dental health programs are organised promoting public dental health. The primary concern is to promote the oral health of infants, children, adolescents and people with special healthcare needs. We take special effort in teaching preventive dental habits to children through different communication style make their dental visits enjoyable. We promote the dental health of children as well as serve as educational resources for parents.

We take immense pleasure to declare that the first batch of MDS students in our department is starting from 2022.
